Kennet and Avon Canal - 12.00 noon, Saturday 22nd

to 8.30 am, Saturday 29th May 2010

(You can book on the previous week to make a 2 week holiday)

This trip will be led by TBA .

This trip is on the Kennet and Avon aboard the Bruce Trust boat Hannah. Details of the boat and it's layout can be found on the Bruce Trust web site. The trip starts and finishes at Great Bedwyn in Wiltshire which is a small village a few miles from Marlborough and Hungerford in Wiltshire. There are two possible routes. One option is to head west which involves travelling up the Crofton Locks to the summit, through the Bruce tunnel and thence to Devizes. On this route you may visit Crofton pumping station, Wilton windmill, Honey Street and Pewsey. In Devizes itself there are a number of attractions including the canal wharf, museums and the Caen Hill flight of locks. The second option is to head east towards Reading visiting Hungerford, Newbury, and Thatcham. Provided water levels permit this trip will go in the opposite direction to the trip the previous week.

The price is £340.00 per person which includes all meals. A deposit of £110.00 is required when booking.

Transport to Great Bedwyn. DART have always done what they can to help those people without transport to get to the starting point of the trip. This may be by asking people who live close to one another to share transport or by organising a mini-bus from the Cheltenham/Gloucester area. If we organise a mini-bus this will involve an additional charge for those who use it. Long term parking is available free of charge at the Bruce Trust base. Click here to see a map showing the location of the base.
